Selecting Dental Products for Your Family

An image of a toothbrush and floss

When shopping for dental hygiene products, we are offered a huge amount of options! Floss, toothpaste, mouthwash, and toothbrushes line the aisle and it can be difficult to know which products are best for you and your family.

Selecting Dental Products

The first step to narrowing down your options is to start with those that have been proven to be safe and effective. They will have the ADA Seal of Approval. After this, you can narrow it down based on your personal preferences.

  • Soft-Bristled Toothbrush – Toothbrushes with hard bristles can cause damage to the enamel of the teeth over time. Brushing gently and with a soft-bristled brush will clean your teeth just as well without damaging them!
  • Fluoride Toothpaste – Unless your doctor or dentist has instructed otherwise, we suggest toothpaste that contains fluoride. Fluoride strengthens the tooth enamel and reduces the risk of tooth sensitivity and decay.
  • Floss – Flossing is an absolutely vital part of any oral hygiene routine and is the best way to prevent gum disease. You have many choices of floss, whether you prefer waxed or unwaxed, flavored or not, nylon or silk. It doesn’t matter which type of floss you use, as long as you floss at least once every day!
