Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are manufactured "caps" that cover exposed areas or teeth that are partially gone. Modern crowns can be made from porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or a full gold crown. In order to maintain a natural look and feel we suggest porcelain, as it can be matched to the shade of your other teeth. This allows your teeth to look similar in color to each other.

If Dr. Polson notices that a tooth is decayed or seems weakened/cracked a crown may be necessary to make sure the tooth is not lost. Often when a filling or bonding will not be sufficient, crowns will be recommended.

Crown Process

The first step is to re-shape your current tooth, don't worry, you will be given a local anesthetic so you do not experience any discomfort. Once your tooth is re-shaped we will take an impression of your tooth. Then we work with a local dental lab to design a crown fit specifically for you.

Once the crown is created, you come back to have the crown permanently sealed over the affected tooth. Crowns can last up to 15 years or more.

Dental Crowns for Cosmetic Appearance

You may have noticed over time our teeth begin to weaken and become susceptible to problems such as decay, cracks and, discoloration. If you feel your smile isn't what it once was, crowns can help you recover your smile.
